Academic leave means a period for which a student is released from the obligation to undertake study and research work. International students of bachelor and master’s programmes having temporary residence permit for studies, please be aware that the residence permit for studies will be terminated for the time academic leave is valid (taken at student’s own request or for health reasons), unless they study full time during academic leave. PhD students are allowed to maintain their residence permit for studies during academic leave.

The taking of academic leave is regulated by the Higher Education Act and by the study regulations of each higher education institutions.
