Eesti Üliõpilaskondade Liidu seisukoht Venemaa agressiooni osas

Me mõistame hukka Vene Föderatsiooni ja Valgevene sõjalise rünnaku Ukraina vastu.

Juba on sõjaliste objektide kõrval rünnatud haridusasutusi.

Statement about the Russian agression

We condemn the military attack done by the Russian Federation and Belarus against Ukraine. This is an unjustifiable and unforgivable aggression. The Ukrainian people have a right to their own democratic state and a free society and those aspirations are not a threat to any peace-loving neighbour.

Currently the future of Ukraine and through that of Europe is under threat. Already among military targets education facilities have been attacked.

We cannot allow the creation of a generation whose education path has been cancelled and who have been forced instead of studies to fight for the freedom and future of their country.

We call upon Russia and Belarus to end their military aggression. We also ask the Estonian government and all those who value freedom in Europe to accept students at risk and also other Ukrainians who are forced to flee from the war.

Estonia must bring to life our own national Students at Risk program that is currently in effect in several neighbouring states. The Russian Federation has not joined the United Nations safe schools declaration which is why we have a justified fear that the aggressor state might target educational and cultural facilities and local leaders of said institutions. The Ukrainian student body, which comprises several European and other foreign students, is at risk.
